About L&B
Our story: L&B Restaurant Group, Folkestone
L&B is a family of pubs, kitchens and a harbour hotel in Folkestone and Sandgate, run by husband and wife Ben and Lucy Cuthbert.
Who we are
L&B started in 2014, when Ben and Lucy took over The Pullman on Church Street. It was an opportunity that landed at their feet, and it became the stepping stone for everything since.
Lucy is the vision behind the interiors and exteriors of the venues. Ben is the all-rounder: you’ll often find him working the pizza oven at Luben.
The Market Kitchen
The heart of L&B is the Market Kitchen. It makes a whole range of things for the venues, from traditional pies to 32-day aged steak. We care about what we serve, and you can often buy it to enjoy at home from our shop, Panataria.
The London & Paris
In 2020 Ben and Lucy bought the building on Harbour Street where The London & Paris Hotel stands. Collapsed roofs and crumbling structures came with it, and they kept going until it was back to its former glory.
How it grew
- 2014
The Pullman
Ben and Lucy take over The Pullman on Church Street, their first venue. (The pub itself is much older; 2014 is when they took it on.)
- 2016
Luben
Wood-fired pizza on Rendezvous Street.
- 2017
The Harbour Inn
The old True Briton on Harbour Street reopens as The Harbour Inn.
- 2019
Market Square
Market Square joins the family. It’s now becoming Union.
- 2020
The London & Paris
Ben and Lucy buy the London & Paris building and start bringing it back to life.
- 2023
The Ship Inn & Panataria
The Ship Inn in Sandgate, and Panataria on Rendezvous Street.
- 2025
The Cat & Fiddle
The Cat & Fiddle on Rendezvous Street.
