A good Sunday roast is half the food and half the room you eat it in. We serve one at three of our pubs, and each has its own feel. The one thing they share is that it’s much better if you book.
In town
The Pullman

7–9 Church Street, CT20 1SE
The Pullman was our first pub. Ben and Lucy took it over in 2014, and it’s still the classic town-centre roast. There’s a fire when it’s cold and a garden full of palms when it isn’t.
Every plate comes with crisp roast potatoes, carrots, slow-braised red cabbage, seasonal greens, a homemade Yorkshire pudding and proper gravy. Then you choose your roast: beef topside, lamb, a chicken supreme, pork belly, or the mushroom roast slice if you don’t eat meat. Can’t decide? Go for the mixed roast. Feeding a hungry table? There’s a sharer platter too.
The garden makes it a good shout in summer, and the fire does the job in winter. Children are welcome, and the team will find a high chair if one’s free.
See the Sunday roast at The Pullman, then book a table on Saturday so it’s sorted.
Book ahead, especially on a bank holiday weekend. Nobody wants to be waiting for a table when they’re hungry.
By the harbour
The Harbour Inn

24–26 Harbour Street, CT20 1QN
During the week The Harbour Inn is all about fish from the local boats. On Sundays it’s roasts with a view of the harbour. It’s the one to pick if you want to be by the water without the walk to Sandgate.
The Sunday menu is the same as at The Pullman: the same trimmings, the same choice of beef, lamb, chicken, pork belly or the mushroom roast slice, and the mixed roast for the undecided. If there’s a fish fan at the table, ask what else the kitchen has on that day. The Harbour Arm is a short stroll along the front, so you can walk off the Yorkshire pudding afterwards.

In Sandgate
The Ship Inn
65 Sandgate High Street, CT20 3AH
The Ship Inn has been pouring pints since 1798, and we’ve looked after it since 2023. The sea is on one side and the village is on the other.

This is a roast for a slow Sunday. Walk along the beach to get there, take your time over lunch, and walk it off afterwards. The roasts and trimmings match the other two pubs, and there’s a sea view from the restaurant.
Check the Sunday roast at The Ship Inn and book a table before you set off.
Vegetarian and vegan roasts
The mushroom roast slice is the vegetarian roast at all three pubs, and it comes with all the same trimmings. Our current Sunday menus don’t list a vegan roast, so if you’re vegan, tell us when you book and ask the team what they can do on the day. We’d rather be straight with you than promise something the kitchen can’t make.
How not to miss out
Book. It really is that simple. Lunchtime fills up first.
If someone needs a vegetarian option or has an allergy, tell us when you book rather than when the plates arrive. And in August and December, don’t count on just turning up.
Planning a festive Sunday? Our Christmas menus at The Pullman, The Ship Inn and The Harbour Inn have their own roast turkey and beef. For the rest of the weekend, have a look at our weekend guide to Folkestone and our guide to Folkestone’s pubs.
